If you had to pick one person as your style icon who would it be? Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Madonna instantly spring to mind for me but if there's one person whose quirky style has kept me entranced since I first saw her back in her band days in No Doubt it's Gwen Stefani.

The blonde hair and bold red lips are STUNNING and timeless, and although looking back at most of her outfit choices they seem almost normal these days, she is certainly one gal who would make me pick up a mag if I saw her on the front cover!

With her love of Jamaica (her first son was named Kingston after the country's capital) I can just see her adorning our Too cool for school necklace as well :-) I hope she makes a comeback to the world of music soon!

We've added a couple more beautiful pieces to the My Little Boutique collection and I have to say i'm loving how diverse our boutique is becoming. During my habitual nose through Facebook last week, I discovered that a handful of my friends had already found and wrapped their Christmas gifts - and all before I had even eaten my first advent calendar choc!! Admittedly i've picked up a few bits but the wrapping paper and tags are still well and truly in their cellophane waiting to be opened.

If you have nothing to do this Sunday (3rd October) why not come and see My Little Boutique at the Bedford Bazaar vintage fair. There will be a number of stalls selling a range of handmade jewellery, second hand clothes and sweet treats in a beautiful (and huge!) old pub called The Bedford. Quality rules!

When I started sourcing jewellery for My Little Boutique at the end of 2008 I was so excited by the kitsch designer's who were making quirky jewellery that couldn't be found on the highstreet. Fast forward 18 months or so and now the market has been saturated with highstreet stores copying these designs at knock down prices. Trawling through the highstreets and checking out the competition (naming no names) I have to say that although the kitsch elements are there - the little cup and spoon, envelope and birdcage charms, the quality simply is not, this and mass production is why they can afford to sell these jewels at knock down prices.

I really do feel for the indie designers who devote time and effort into making their handmade wears only for them to be ripped off. I guess it's what clothing designers have been experiencing for years and we've all probably been guilty of purchasing a fashion look a like but when the average indie designer is charging maybe £10-£15 for a necklace and you see the same thing easily accessible on the highstreet for £7 it's hard not to feel a little angered.

3 weeks ago just as Mischa Barton's Autumn/Winter handbag collection was previewed in the press, I was really shocked to learn that the actress had been placed under involuntary psychiatric hold in LA as a result of a dramatic meltdown.

The star has now been released and is back to work filming The Beautiful Life, where she plays a supermodel with a drinking problem (created and produced by Ashton Kutcher).

As a teenager growing up in the nineties I had an aversion to gold jewellery. While my parents, aunties and uncles would adorn themselves with gold necklaces, rings and bracelets, I was strictly a silver jewellery kind of girl.

Good Ole British weather

The sun is here! Well it has been for a few days now and the best thing about working from home is that in between updating the website and posting orders I can actually go out and enjoy it. There’s nothing better than working in the garden instead of being stuck in a stuffy office; oh yes, last summer I was sat in front of my computer melting into my chair too.

Don’t get too jealous though girls….yesterday I took a couple of hours off to chill in the park with my soon-to-be Matron of honour (so excited about getting married I couldn’t help but throw that one in – yipeee). Anyway, the sun had been shining all morning but as soon as we entered the park the sun retreated under a cloud and a few drops of rain even decided to make an appearance. The moment we said our goodbyes a couple of hours later (I just had to get on the Tube before rush hour hell), you guessed it the sun came back out to rub our faces in it. Here I am today, eating Watermelon and thinking today would have been a much better day for us to meet up – typical!
